“do as I do”

And he said to them, “Look at me and do likewise; watch, and when I come to the edge of the camp you shall do as I do.
Judges 7:17
Observation
The battle plan God had given the Israelites was strange to say the least. Not to mention the process of how God assembled Gideon’s army, (v2-4). Nevertheless, the process or the procedure in which God chooses to prepare his people for battle should never be in question. God knows what we need in order for us to become who He has created us to be and to achieve what He has called us to do. Finally, after many encounters with God, all doubt was removed from Gideon’s heart and he was confidently able to say, “do as I do.” Gideon was now demonstrating leadership by example!
Application
Being a leader demands action and going out to do something for God even if the odds are against you as they were with Gideon. Like Gideon, as I fully trust God with my life and embrace the process, trials and tests that God uses to develop me as a Godly leader, than I can confidently say to my wife, family and other people that I am leading, to follow me as I follow Christ (I Cor 11:1). When I offer myself fully to God, He will give me all that I need to lead myself and others. Also, as I follow the Godly example of my pastors and leaders that God has placed in my life, I will grow in the confidence necessary to lead by example.
Prayer
Father, thank you for believing in me like you believed in Gideon. Thank you for my pastors and leaders that you have placed in my life as Godly examples of how I should love and lead people. Because of your love for me and the leaders you placed around me, I can humbly say that I am learning to lead by example.
