Scripture

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Observation

John’s gospel provides a wealth of material regarding Jesus’ life not found in the gospels of Matthew, Mark or Luke. John describes some attributes of Jesus that contributes to the success or fulfillment of Jesus’ ministry while He dwelt among us.

Application

The success of anything is determined by the materials we use and the foundation we build upon. John describes Jesus as being, “full of grace and truth”. John could have used any two descriptors for Jesus to be “full of”. Perhaps these are the two fundamental building blocks that attributed to the success of Jesus fulfilling His mission? Why should I use anything other than the tried and true materials that Jesus used when it comes to fulfilling the mission God has for me?

Prayer

Lord, I need Your grace to parent and lead in every area of life. I realize that with Your grace, I am sufficient and without it, I am not. Likewise, I need Your truth. Your truth is an anchor that stabilizes me and a rudder that directs me. Fill me today and everyday with Your grace and truth! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
