Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing
Posted January 27th, 2010 by Dave MaddenScripture
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13
Observation
The disciples had no education, no training, and no other perceived credentials. However the disciples had one important thing going for them, they had been with Jesus. They had spent time with Him and everyone could tell.
Application
The most important thing in my life is not how much I know or how much training I have had. The most important thing in my life is spending time with Jesus. Studying and training are good but can never take the place of walking with God. When Moses was with God his face shone to the Israelites, when Jacob was with God he was given a new name and a limp, when the disciples walked with God they spoke with boldness and people marveled. What will happen as I spend time with God today? What will happen as you do? In His Word. In His presence. People will see the difference and be impacted as we press on to know the Lord.
Prayer
Father I pray that You will help me seek first Your kindgom and Your righteousness today. Help me to keep the main thing the main thing, and that is spending time with You. I need You today. My family needs to recognize that I’ve been with Jesus. My co-workers and neighbors need me to have been with You. I focus on You today, draw me closer than ever before. I love You…In Jesus Name!
