I John 4:29 If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar, For the person who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. HCSB

Observation

This is such a powerful truth. Many times I can say the right thing to God and have no patience with the weaknesses of people. Hate is a very strong word, but I can easily slip over into anger toward others when they dissappoint me. God is very clear that if we are not able to love our brother, then we do not really love God. God’s love compels us to love others inspite of their weakenesses.

Application

For me to love others like I need to, I have to continually walk in forgiveness. I have to also value the differences that we all have. Our differences (even the ones that frustrate me) are what makes us stronger and effective for God. Some days I need more of a reminder of this truth than others.

Prayer

God thank you for all of the people that you have placed in my life. I love them all!!! God thank you for all the Godly character that you are developing in me as I love those around me. Help me to love the unlovable like you do!!!
