Making Jesus Famous

Posted December 18th, 2009 by David DeGarmo

John 2-4

Scripture

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

Observation

John the Baptist speaks here of his diminishing role as the prophet who makes the way for the Messiah. As Jesus’ public ministry became more prominent, John’s own prominence had to decrease.

Application

As I grow in Christ there are areas in my life that must give way to the character and nature of Jesus in me. My goal as a Christian is for my daily life and interactions to look more and more like Jesus and less and less like me. What part of my life does Jesus want to move into today?

Prayer

Lord, I want my life to be a reflection of Your love and compassion. Search my life and show me where my own natural tendencies and desires need to “decrease” so that You can “increase.” Have Your way in me today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
