Scripture

Numbers 3:5-8

“And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: ‘Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him. And they shall attend to his needs and the needs of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of meeting, to do the work of the tabernacle. Also they shall attend to all the furnishings of the tabernacle of meeting, and to the needs of the children of Israel, to do the work of the tabernacle.”

Observation

The Levites were set aside to minister to God, His people, and all the needs of the sanctuary. God set them aside for these noble tasks. In fact, many of them actually were worship leaders! The Tabernacle, in a way, represents the Church for us today. We, as God’s people, are modern-day Levites, serving God, His people, and the various needs of the sanctuary, such as ushering, greeting, coffee ministry, even outreach group events. These are all part of the needs of the Church.

Application

Consider yourself a modern-day Levite and join yourself to God’s work in the Church. Get involved in His purpose for your life through the daily activities of the Church.

Prayer

Lord help me to become a part of serving You, your people and the needs of the Church. Amen.
