More Than Enough

Scripture

Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”
And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.” So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. Matthew 15:34-36

Observation

Matthew writes about two different accounts of multitudes being fed from a very small amount of bread and fish. The great thing about seeing at least two examples is we can see a common thread in both accounts. First, the supply of food was insufficient compared to the demand, but Jesus still wanted to use these resources. Secondly, Jesus gave thanks for what was available. Thirdly, the miracle of multiplication happened in the disciples’ hands as they started to give out from the resources available. Fourthly, God provided more than enough than was ever needed.

Application

The next time I face a challenge and I feel as though I have insufficient resources to meet the need, I will remember Jesus’ example. He never became insecure or impatient when a problem arose. Rather, He always saw an opportunity in every crisis not a crisis in every opportunity! I will use what I have, and start doing the work because the miracle of multiplication could begin with me!

Prayer

Father, may I always have confidence in Your ability to provide more than enough for every situation that I encounter. I pray that I approach every crisis with an expectation that You have the ability to perform the miracle of multiplication as I give out of what I have in my hand. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
