You are HIS Catch

Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. John 21:11
Observation
The disciples were obedient to Jesus instructions and abundance followed. When God speaks and we obey, His provision follows. God is faithful to find us even we deviate from His plan. The number and size of fish are recorded because God is into details. It took 6 men to drag the net (v.8), but Peter did it alone when Jesus gave him the command. Peter was empowered by the Word of God.
Application
I realize that the disciples were off doing their own “fishing” excursion. I am thankful and grateful that Jesus found me even while I was off doing my own “thing”. Just as Jesus pursued the disciples, I can thankfully say that Jesus found me! Also, when we obey the Lord, His power fills us. In this case, when the disciples obeyed, Jesus blessed them with 153 large fish. Why was the number of fish recorded? Why the size of fish was described? Why was Peter able to haul in this large net full of fish alone according to (v.11)? Because God is into details, each fish is important to God and when we obey God’s word, He fills us with His power. In other words, the fish represent God’s people and people matter to God. I have a responsibility to be aware of the people that decide to follow Christ and ensure that they are being tended to. You are more than just a fish, you are His catch!
Prayer
Lord, empower me to do your will. I need Your power to fulfill Your will for my life. Thank you for pursuing me and making my life count. May I be as obedient and responsible with others lives as You have been towards me.
